What is your responsibility as a leader when someone gets revelation?
Quote from Bolz Team on December 12, 2019, 5:05 pmSpeaking into someones process should be fully motivated out of love. We don't want to be controlling or demanding in our directives to people. It's important to give them freedom to make wise choices. Leaders don't have authority over peoples humanity but they have authority to speak into their journey. Some leaders who give directives have a hard time differentiating between the two. People are responsible for their own mistakes so if we feel they are making the wrong choice we can speak into that lovingly but without control or demand. Individuals should write their own mission statement in life and set goals to it. It can happen that spiritual mothers and fathers end up trying to define peoples process rather than just speaking into it even if they do not intend to do so.
If you are not able to define yourself to others then others will define you. They'll define you for you. They'll define what you're called to. They'll define you use their system. Yet if you can define the areas you're called to then you can protect those boundaries.
Now when people make rash decisions based on a weak or unsolidified process, then perhaps they haven't fully wrestled through what God is saying. For example if someone quits their job and moves their whole family across the country because they feel God is calling them to a different state, they may find that they get there and they are not able to stay. At this point a leader should communicate that this person should ask more questions and seek the Holy Spirit on this decision. They may even need to back track and go back to where they first begun. Often times people move out to Los Angeles to pursue the industry with no clear direction or plan and they are not able to stay.
People can easily become so overtaken by fantasies or delusions of what they could become that they do not want to kill the lion and the bear first. They immediately want to jump to killing Goliath. But this is not the way that it works. There is a proving process that needs to happen.
Remember that all advice and council that we give in regards to what others have heard or vice versa should be given out of the motivation of love and genuine concern and care for each other. When you speak into someones process do it with love. When you allow someone to speak into your process, hear it with love even if they are incorrect in what they are feeling. You can lovingly disagree with what is being said and still protect relationship.
