How do I use my gifts in the marketplace and not be misunderstood by secular leaders

First and foremost focus on how you are there to serve the company you are in. When Joseph was serving Pharaoh he had strategy to make Egypt better. He was able to leverage the Israelites to say “Here is a people group that can serve you, they have integrity and they have character." It spared them from starvation.  It made Joseph look good and eventually it gave him power  to make larger decisions. So the goal is not always to be the one who is bringing the word of the Lord in the marketplace.  You need to have spiritual intelligence and know where people are in their process. People don’t always want to hear “Hey I have a word for your,” or “Hey, Jesus loves you.” But they always want to see you doing better at your job and making them succeed and allowing your strategy to have great impact.

Eventually they’re going to ask you “How are you doing this?” And those are the moments you stop and tell them that you’re feeling these things from God. You don 't have to go into great detail with an overwhelming sermon. St. Francis of Assisi said "I preach Christ daily and sometimes I use words.” So remember that the message of your life impacts people before you speak. Preach through your actions, your integrity, your loyalty, the fruit of the spirit so when people are looking at you they are going to ask you questions.

When you do share something inherently spiritual, make sure there is time and space that the person is inviting you into. Use language where there is an easy out - “I want to share something I feel I heard from God for you. No problem if you don’t want to hear it. I was just feeling this.”

Sometimes they’lll reject it but don’t feel rejected. Instead bring it back to the relational aspect and invest in the person.
