How can we bring integrity and accuracy of prophetic words into the local church?
Accountability is an important thing to talk about. Track prophetic words that are in regards to f future information that is not currently at hand. Have people write them down. Then they can follow up with that person. For example if they prophecy financial breakthrough in May they can follow up in June and ask for an honest and vulnerable answer. Allow people to be fully open with no fear of criticism for the sake of genuine growth.
Whatever the answer is report it to the church and the people that you are accountable to. If the person says that there was no breakthrough take full responsibility with no excuses. Apologize and be genuine.
If you a person gives a number of wrong dates then it is good to stop giving dates for a season. Instead say“there is a SEASON coming of financial prosperity.” vs. “In May you will have financial prosperity” Use more vague and generic language. Internally you can note what you think you’re hearing about dates rather than sharing it.
When prophecying build immediate hope- the gospel of good news and the prophetic message today. Do not exaggerate, do not go to level 10 fruit exclamations. For example- How should you say that the persons going to have an opportunity in acting? Should you exclaims "they’ll win an award!”Are they going to win an award or are they going to get a show?
When leading people in this, highlight accuracy in prophetic words but don’t make it the goal. Make the goal love and teachabilty - accuracy will follow teachability so it shouldn’t be the goal. Accuracy should be a standard -accuracy and integrity.
